Updated: Apr 15

Franchisee success is wonderful. You’ve done a good job with something you love and the rewards are rolling in.

But it doesn’t always start this way.

Don’t let yourself get bogged down in the early days of becoming a franchisee. It doesn’t need to always be work work work, if you learn valuable skills and tricks in developing franchisee success.

Use outsourced help where necessary

When starting a franchise or small business it can be tempting to tackle everything involved by yourself. If you’re naturally all rounded and know all the ins and outs of business, fantastic! Go right ahead. But for the rest of us, it’s good to outsource tasks you are unsure about.

Get an account involved to help organise your finances. Use a professional web developer to create a website that will stun your customers. Engage in advice from expert professionals.

You don’t need to claim to know or understand everything at the beginning!

Establish relationships with your customers

Service based industries need a personal touch to stand out from the rest.

Do this by establishing sound relationships with your customers. Complete follow up phone calls or emails after appointments to check in on the customer and the service they received.

Keep a notebook handy

When inspiration or ideas strike have a notebook handy to capture these thoughts. Too often they are fleeting and forgotten, when these brain waves could be the next important step for your franchise or businesses success.

Set aside time for reflection

Whether you schedule in 30 minutes at the end of the week or take 5 minutes at the end of the day, look back and reflect on how your franchise is developing. Is there something you would do differently in the future? Can you improve on any business decisions you made in the past month?

Franchisee success depends on always being reflective and adaptive to change.

Understand that working for free can help your business

No one wants to work for free, but with a service based franchise, it can really assist your business growth. Consider offering your customers deals such as a free consultation, or book two hours get one free.

Small sacrifices of your time can be the breaking point for gathering more clients into your customer base.

Look at your competition, be inspired by them

Don’t think of your competition as the enemy. Instead be inspired and motivated by their successes. If they can do it, why can’t you? A positive attitude can take you so far!
