It’s no secret that keeping the kitchen clean and organised can be a tough battle. With so many items, nooks and crannies, it can be easy to miss sections and items or not give them the attention they deserve. Below are our top 7 kitchen cleaning tips.

  1. Sprinkle baking soda in the base of your rubbish bin


Rubbish bins can have some foul smells wafting out of them. By sprinkling baking soda in the base of your rubbish bin you can stop this problem all together. Smells good to us!


  1. Wash your blender the same way you blend food


After using your blender take it straight to the kitchen sink and fill it up with water and a drop of dishwashing liquid. Put it back on the blender base to whirl for a few seconds then finally rinse the soap suds out. You’ve just perfected the simplest way to wash your blender. 


  1. Remove coffee stains with vinegar and salt


You know those awful coffee stains around coffee mugs, cups and saucers? Mix equal parts vinegar and salt together to form a thick paste. Apply to the stained items with a clean cloth. A little elbow grease and this paste should remove the stains. Remember to rinse the dishes with water once you’re done. 


  1. Keep disinfectant wipes handy


Disinfectant wipes can be used on an abundance of surfaces and kitchen items. Keep a packet beneath the kitchen sink or wherever you store your cleaning supplies. If you’re short on time and need to get the kitchen benches clean, simply grab a wipe to do the dirty work for you. 


  1. Clean tarnished utensils with baking soda


Place your tarnished utensils on a baking tray or within a bowl and sprinkle with baking soda. Pour hot water over the utensils and let to sit for 20 minutes. You should now be able to wipe your utensils clean with a soft cloth. How easy!


  1. Use lemons to clean chopping boards


Chopping boards can be a nightmare to keep fresh. Cut a lemon in half and rub it over the chopping board to remove built up food stains and residue. Rinse thoroughly and enjoy your lemon smelling kitchen. 


  1. Line your refrigerator drawers with newspapers


Newspaper is good for absorbing odours. Line refrigerator drawers with newspapers to absorb the odours of fruits and vegetables before they spread.
